Woodcock Hunting County Tyrone
Season:-
We hunt mainly over cockers and springers and a couple of Labs for ease of retrieving. We can cater for groups of 8 guns (driven woodcock). We tend to stand 4/6 guns and walk 4/2, depending on the guns fitness and the terrain. With smaller groups of 2/3 guns we tend to shoot hedgerows and small glens.
The ground varies greatly and consists of 3 areas, totaling over 20,000 acres. Between Newtownstewart and Strabane the beginning of the Sperrin Mountain range we have a mixture of Forestry blocks and snipe bogs.
The largest area is on the Tyrone/Fermanagh/Donegal border. Lough Braden Forest has mixed woodland, bogs, lakes and gorse hedges covering over 12000 acres. Some of the shooting rights are leased but the majority is owned by me.
The last area is around the Strule Valley and is around 3000 acres (between Omagh and Newtownstewart) This is mostly hedgerows, small copse's and bogs. The Mellon Country Inn is central to this area and is about 20 minutes drive from our furthest area.
